wsr_logoSince May 2009 I’ve been training and improving my Muay Thai skills at the Weerasakreck Muay Thai gym in Nishi-Kawaguchi. The gym itself, the newest of a number of Fairtex gyms spread across the Greater Tokyo area, opened earlier this year.

I have been training in Muay Thai for over 10 years now and still thoroughly enjoy it. Not only is it a fantastic martial art in itself but it mixes well with any MMA stylist. “The Art of Eight Limbs” is indeed arguably one of the best striking arts to incorporate into MMA fighting.

This gym caters for everyone from kids to adults, amateur to professional fighters, or those simply looking to get and keep a good level of fitness. The trainers are all friendly and all have a professional Muay Thai fighting background. Their English and Japanese skills are not perfect but they make up for that in charisma and teaching skills.

I am hoping to fight for them in 2010, although with few heavyweight fighters there it could be interesting!

You can see the gym and a wee unintentional background cameo from myself here.
